Industry Hall of Fame 2011
Cyril Golding
Often referred to ‘Mr Gladstone’, GEA congratulates the first beneficiary of the Industry Hall of Fame, Cyril Golding
Cyril Golding started his business as a sole operator in 1942 he had no idea that he would develop a mining and construction company which today has a workforce of some 1800 people and runs one of the largest privately owned earthmoving fleets in the southern hemisphere.
Cyril’s business played a prominent role in shaping the economic development and prosperity of Gladstone and also Queensland, undertaking many major civil infrastructure projects and mining developments.
One of the major contributions Cyril loved to contribute too was the community, and his financial contribution to a wide range of charitable causes.
