German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce Delegation
(AHK Australien)
A 38-strong delegation from the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Australien) will be attending GEA’s Connecting Suppliers Luncheon on Wednesday 27 April and the CQ Supply Chain Expo on Thursday 28 April.
The German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Australien) is the primary contact for all bilateral business matters. With offices in Sydney and Melbourne and strong links to the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), the AHK Australien has successfully fostered the trade and industry partnership between both countries for 45 years. Recently, the AHK Australien has adopted its new strategy aimed at spearheading its efforts in four distinct industry clusters in four identified high-potential industries: Health, Energy, Food and Beverage, Mining and Resources. The Energy and the Mining & Resources Cluster are organising a delegation of AHK members to Gladstone this April, supported by TIQ and GEA. This trip will highlight the opportunities Gladstone has to offer to (mostly German) companies in the industrial and energy sectors.
Mining & Resources Cluster
Australia is one of the world’s leading mining countries, exporting a wide range of mineral and energy resources – not only “traditional” resources like iron ore, gold or coal, but also “future” minerals like Lithium or Rare Earths Metals with high importance for the German industry. While the number of operating mines in Germany is decreasing, Germany remains a world-class exporter of mining equipment, technology and services (METS) with a growing number of companies exporting their innovative products to Australia.
Energy Cluster
With most of the industrial nations striving to decarbonize, the energy market is undergoing radical change. Industry players need to stay on top of relevant information about innovation and policies.

Streamlining Bilateral Business
Germany is renowned for its cutting-edge technology, but this is not to say that Australia is lagging in disruptive inventions. In addition to its natural assets like wind and solar, Australia has a wealth of experience in running large energy projects and is short-listed to become one of the major providers of green energy for Germany and other import markets. As the Australian Ambassador to Germany, H.E. Phillip Green, said: “3% of Australia’s landmass can provide 10times the green energy Germany needs.” For both countries to reach their full potential, they need focused exchange opportunities.
