CENTRAL Queensland industry supply chain businesses will have access to an invaluable resource when planning their workforce with the launch of a new Gladstone Industry Leadership Group Shutdown Calendar.

The calendar, a collaboration between GILG and Gladstone Engineering Alliance, features the planned shutdowns of GILG members, Gladstone Ports Corporation, Rio Tinto Yarwun, Queensland Alumina Limited, Boyne Smelters Limited, Orica Yarwun, Cement Australia Yarwun and Gladstone Power Station, and the local LNG export facilities, over a 12-18-month period.

GEA General Manager Chantale Lane said her team was thrilled to be able to work collaboratively with GILG to see the calendar up and running again.

“A current shutdown calendar is something our members have been asking for quite a while, so we’re excited to announce this new partnership with GILG,” she said.

“GEA has developed a new calendar, which will feature on our website, and moving forward we will act as a caretaker for GILG, ensuring the calendar remains as accurate as possible.”

Ms. Lane said the shutdown calendar was an invaluable resource for GEA members as it provided them with information on potential future resourcing requirements.

“Being able to plan and prepare gives the local supply chain an advantage in ensuring these up-coming maintenance works stay local”, she said.

Acting CEO Nigel Warrington said GILG was pleased to be able to support GEA and the Central Queensland industry supply chain community.

“By providing this information to the local supply chain through GEA we can assist them in preparing to meet the demands of local industry,” he said.

“GILG is invested in ensuring the long-term survival of industry and Gladstone, and is therefore committed to utilising local content first where possible.”

The relationship between GILG and GEA, the industry supply chain member alliance in Central Queensland, has gone from strength to strength over the last several months, with GILG now located at GEA’s Office at The City Arcade on Goondoon Street.

“There is a synergy between GILG’s members and our membership base”, Ms. Lane said.

“Having GILG headquartered in such close physical proximity to the GEA Team makes sense, and will only help to further foster collaboration between industry and the supply chain.”

The GILG Shutdown Calendar can be viewed here, and will also be accessible via the GILG website in the coming weeks.

Due to unprecedented global uncertainty due to COVID-19 the calendar will be updated more frequently than normal at the moment.

Please check the calendar regularly for updates.
