Nilsen Gladstone as a part of Nilsen OLD has a reputation with our clients for diligently carrying out our work in the safest possible manner and has a long record of safe work dating back quite a few years. This safe work record stems from a companywide focus on an inclusive safety culture that continuously encourages workers and staff to ask questions or suggest improvements at any time and to stop the job if any safety concerns do become apparent.

The team members in the Gladstone Branch of Nilsen OLD regularly undertake considerably hazardous work such as High Voltage switching, High voltage testing and accessing energized Switchboards to conduct thermal imaging and ultrasonic scanning.

In order to Safely carry out this work there is considerable training required including nationally recognized training such as HV switching (HVIA) and significant in-house training such as the TEGG Level 1 and 2. To achieve the initial Level 1 TEGG Certification with Nilsen OLD, all Nilsen TEGG technicians are required to attend in depth training. This initial tranche is over 40 hours of theoretical training and a minimum of 400 hours of on the job TEGG infrared and electrical testing for Infrared Level 1 (with 21O of those hours using IR). To achieve a Level 2 certification requires 1800 total hours of TEGG infrared and electrical testing (with 1260 of those hours using IR). The technician is then re-evaluated by an international 3rd party trainer and subject matter expert for final certification. This certification ensures that each technician is competent to carry out these testing tasks safely and to the highest possible standards.

In addition to the rigorous training requirements within the certification process, Nilsen constantly ensures the overall safety of workers to reduce the likelihood of any LTl or MTls occurring on projects. Nilsen has developed a detailed personnel induction process that promotes our policies on health and safety. Re-inductions are also completed routinely to reinforce our processes to assist in eliminating the potential risk of injury.

Should an incident occur at any time on site Nilsen Gladstone has ensured that all staff are competent and certified in First aid, CPR and Low Voltage rescue and response in order to minimize any possible negative outcomes. Nilsen QLD has also built a formal escalation process to assist workers during an incident and to ensure that the correct responsible people are notified as soon as possible and are able to respond to the incident appropriately and in a timely manner. This includes not only a detail process for injuries, but a strong focus on injury prevention through near miss reports and very open and honest discussions on safety at our daily pre-starts, toolbox meetings and production meetings. These meetings are utilized daily by all our employees to ensure that each member of the team not only knows the task to be completed but also the safest way to do it and the control measures put in place to ensure everyone's safety.

Nilsen has also developed and implemented the 'Nilsen Project Safety Plan' which provides the framework to ensure that the services provided will meet the contract and OHS requirements and expectations throughout the duration of the project. The policies and procedures described in this plan have been established to meet the requirements of OHS legislation. The Nilsen Management System manual supports this document. This manual is designed to ensure that Nilsen employees and Nilsen engaged subcontractors conduct and manage all their on-site activities in a safe manner. Nilsen and all our employees continually take all reasonable steps to adhere to the Safety Plan, Project Safety Management System, and sites rules to make sure that not only us, but our work mates, colleagues and clients can return home safely at the end of each day at work.

Nilsen has also adopted a company wide philosophy of " think safe act safe " which encourages a culture of proactive intervention and Nilsen have implemented a suite of leading indicators throughout the business to measure safety performance. By using and reviewing these indicators they help prioritize where effort may be needed to reduce potential for risk and drive identification and elimination or control of risks in the workplace which can otherwise potentially lead to incidents or injuries. Nilsen QLD also currently holds third party AS/NZ 4801 :2001 accreditation for our internal occupational health and safety management system from TCQS International (Group) Pty Ltd.

To highlight all of the the above, the recordable incident statistics for Nilsen Gladstone are a part of a combined Queensland, state-wide data set (see attached) which shows the falling incident rate from 2016 to date despite a large increase in the size of the work group. The safety culture at Nilsen QLD and the thorough approach to our work has fostered this ongoing safety record and has resulted in no recordable incidents for in excess of 353,331 man hours and ZERO LTis for a period of in excess of 5 years with a total of more than 1,870,932 man hours worked!
